
Vincennes IN – Thomas Richard Woods, age 85, passed away on April. 18, 2025.
Tom was born December 7, 1939 in Vincennes, Indiana to John E. and Lillian F. (Nash) Woods. One step-brother, David, preceded him in death.
Tom graduated from Monroe City High School in 1958 before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Linda C. Dunkerly, January 24, 1960, and they shared 65 years of marriage. Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Children left to cherish memories of special times with their Dad include Todd Woods (Susan), Noma Maier (Jan) and two grandchildren.
Tom made a career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane, Indiana and served many years in the Indiana National Guard. After retiring from Crane he worked as a real estate appraiser.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda Woods, brother-in-law Richard (Lois) Bosecker and sister-in-law Waneta (Don) Dunkerly, their children, and many nieces and nephews.
Tom will be remembered by family and friends for his love of golf and the outdoors. He was an excellent golfer with 5 hole-in-ones to his credit. Tom was an avid outdoorsman. Many memories were made with family and friends on hunting and fishing trips, on the golf course, at family gatherings and during annual trips to Florida visiting friends, playing golf and cards and enjoying the warmer weather.
Tom was a member of Bethel Church in Freelandville. He enjoyed partipating with friends in the activities of many organizations including the Bicknell IN Elks Lodge 1421, Vincennes IN Moose Lodge 281, V.F.W Post 4300 Sebring, FL, American Legion Post 0069 Avon Park FL. Tom was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge at Elnora IN, and a member of the Wabash Valley Sportsman’s Club in Vincennes IN and the French Club in Bicknell, IN.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with Memorial Service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Church 13673 E. SR 58, Edwardsport IN 47535 on Friday May 2nd with food and refreshments to follow.

Have known Tom and Linda forever! They were the first couple to come to see me when losing my husband. Tom golfed with my now husband Jim Bobe. We would see them on Chicken night at Bicknell Elks. Will miss that friendly smile and conversation.

Platoon Sargent Tom Woods was my Platoon Sargent when I started my career in the Indiana Army National Guard Sargent Woods was one of the bases of my 40 year career Sargent Woods will be missed but never forgotten prayers to the family to Sargent Woods brother till we meet again
