Terry Benner was born on July 20th, 1956—a day he lovingly referred to as a National Holiday. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1974, Terry embarked on a life defined by his extraordinary generosity and warmth.
Those who knew Terry will forever remember his remarkable ability to brighten even the darkest days with his quick wit and infectious laughter. His passion for hunting and occasional gambling adventures were matched only by his unwavering commitment to helping others. Terry’s gentle spirit touched countless lives, as he never hesitated to extend his hand to anyone in need.
Anyone who spent time with Terry quickly learned of his unwavering devotion to the Kansas City Chiefs. On game days, he could be found in his favorite chair, adorned in red and gold, cheering on his beloved team. His home was never complete without the companionship of his cherished dogs, who were far more than pets—they were family members who brought him immeasurable joy and comfort throughout the years.
Terry has reunited with his parents, Leroy and Delores Benner, and his brother Brett Benner, who preceded him in death.
His legacy of love continues through his devoted wife Julie Benner, his son Zach Benner, his daughter Erin Wolfe (Jack Brady), his beloved grandchildren Jayclyn, Tyler, and Orion Wolfe, and his great-grandson Warren Wolfe, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
In accordance with Terry’s wishes, his ashes will be spread in the places he loved most after his beloved wife Julie’s passing, allowing them to journey together one final time as they did throughout their lives.
For those wishing to honor Terry’s compassionate spirit, donations may be made to New Life Rescue at 6500 Leonard Rd N, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Joseph Lee, Jenna Merkley, Tara Powell, Hannah Elber, and the dedicated team at Charles Ford Hospice in Harmony, whose exceptional care and kindness provided comfort during Terry’s final journey.

Terry sure loved his dogs. My husband was given first pick of one of Terry’s litters. Our daughter picked the biggest male. When she asked Terry what ‘that’ was, he told her it’s where a frog bit him. She taught that information to everybody!
