
Sallie Mae Phillips, 70, of Smith Mills, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 22,2026.
Sallie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. A homemaker throughout much of her life, avid turkey and deer hunter, enjoyed going camping with family and the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her children, Troy (Karen) Cox, Cindy (Troy) Overfield, and Jason (Brooke) Cox; her grandchildren, Taylor (Aric) Ryan, Travis Cox, Tyler (Alyssa) Alderson, Kupper Cox, and Houston Cox; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Blakely Grace, Beckett Emerson, and Hattie Rose. One brother Claud Thompson.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children and beloved first husband, John “Eddie” Cox, and by her longtime love and husband, Berney Ray Phillips. Also, her parents Clem Kupper and Shirley Thompson.
Sallie will be remembered for her strong spirit, her deep love for her family, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. As a proud MawMaw, nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether she was in the woods hunting deer and turkey, sharing stories, or simply enjoying time camping with family, she had a way of making people feel welcomed and at home.
Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the memories they will carry forever. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on July 11, 2026 Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 11525 Ky-359, Waverly, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lucy Smith King Care Center Hospice in Henderson, Kentucky.
