
EVANSVILLE – Rachel Louise Stevens, 65, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born on November 22, 1960, Rachel lived a life defined by love, faith, and selflessness.
Rachel was a dedicated mother and grandmother, she was a member of the painters union and also served as a caretaker, embodying her natural inclination to nurture and support others. Her career reflected her deep commitment to helping those around her, a value she carried into every aspect of her life.
Rachel’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Octavius Stevens, Carma Stevens, and James Stevens; her grandchildren: Nabia Boyd, R’Veonna Madison, Octavius Stevens Jr., Key’Montai Madison, Cynyia Stevens, Ja’Mes Stevens, Jai Shon Stevens, Samonie Stevens, and Lanee Stevens; and her great-grand-children: Dredyn Atkins, Autumn Stevens, Ja’Nyra Stevens, and Aizen Stevens. She also leaves behind her siblings: Williams Stevens, Johnny Stevens, Deborah Mitchell,Wanda Mitchell, and D. Stevens; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rachel was predeceased by her parents Ann Martha Stevens and James William Mitchell; her siblings Jeanette Mitchell, JoAnna Stevens, David Stevens, Robert Stevens, and Archie Stevens; her son William Stevens; and grandson Key’Island Madison. Rachel found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones and traveling. Her laughter was infectious, and her kindness knew no bounds. She opened her heart and home to anyone in need, becoming a mother & grandmother figure to many. Rachel’s unwavering faith guided her life as she shared God’s love with everyone she met.
Rachel will be cremated in accordance with her wishes. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know her. May her legacy of love and grace continue to inspire us all.
