Paul G. Brieschke, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on May 31, 1939, in Laurenburg, Germany, Paul was the son of Franz and Elle Faulk Brieschke. One of eight children, he grew up surrounded by family before bravely immigrating to the United States in 1957 at the age of 18 in search of new opportunities and a better life.
Despite life’s hardships, Paul remained resilient and hardworking. He spent over 40 years working at Union Special, where he dedicated much of his career. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and playing slot machines and was known for never meeting a slot machine he couldn’t play, a sentiment sure to bring a smile to those who knew him best.
He spent his final days in good spirits. His daughters, Tina Dewey of Galatia, IL and Kimberly Stanley of Jonesboro, GA were the lights of his life, bringing him immense pride and joy.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength and the warmth he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched.
Paul will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Marengo, Illinois, where he will find his final place of peace.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Carol Copeland, the mother of his children Roberta Sundberg, and their son Todd Elliot Brieschke.
