Paul’s Story — A Life of Strength, Love, and Dedication
Paul was more than a man — he was a force of nature, a friend when others weren’t, a brother who loved his siblings deeply, a father who never let his children go without, and a grandfather whose pride in his family could fill the biggest room.
He grew up knowing the value of hard work and never shied away from it. Even when life handed him struggles that would have stopped most, Paul kept going — working untit his body physically couldn’t anymore. His hands were always busy, whether he was building, fixing, or creating the “Frankenstein rides” that only he could dream up and bring to life. His intelligence, resourcefulness, and dedication made him a businessman unlike any other – one who stuck with his work even when he deserved rest.
Paul’s hearing faded over the years, a silent loss that many never realized. But whether or not he could hear the words, he always understood the meaning behind them. He lived his life not through noise, but through action – showing his love through what he did for others, and never needing much in return.
He had a smile you couldn’t compare to anything except the sun on its brightest days. That smile, paired with his easy laugh and kind heart, lit up every room he walked into. And if there was pie, you could bet Paul was happy — it was one of his simple, pure joys in life.
He loved deeply and widely – family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers who crossed his path. He was a proud papaw to five beautiful grandkids and a great-grandpa to one sweet-faced baby boy. He was also an uncle who was always there when needed.
Paul was no stranger to heartbreak. In recent years, he endured the loss of his son, Justin; his brothers, Jimmy and Kenny; his dear friend Bob Broady; and many more loved ones. But in my heart, I know when his time comes, he’ll walk right up to each of them, embrace them, and smile that unforgettable smile once again.
He faced a broken back, a spinal cord injury, and terminal cancer with the same grit he carried his whole life. Even when his body failed him, his spirit never did.
To know Paul was to know loyalty. To love Paul was to understand that even if life pulled you apart, his care for you never ended.
As his daughter, I can say without hesitation — I am the proudest daughter in the world. My dad taught me resilience, the meaning of true love, and the importance of carrying on, no matter how heavy the weight. Losing him will leave a space in my heart that nothing can ever fill. But I will carry his lessons, his legacy, and his love for the rest of my life.
When Paul leaves this earth, he will not go alone. He will go surrounded by love, by the music he enjoyed, by the memories of all the people whose lives he touched. And those who take him into their care will know this: Paul was a rare soul, a man of integrity and heart, whose life mattered in countless ways.
See you soon, Dad. And even though I can’t hear you tell me one more time, I know you love me — and let it never, ever be questioned.
This is Paul’s story. And while his time here has ended, his story will never truly be over. It will live on in every life he touched, every lesson he taught, and every bit of love he gave.
