In loving memory of Owen Ray Mays (Ragtime, Rag) who passed away September 10, 2026. He was born in Providence, Kentucky to Oscar and Evadean Mays on May 7, 1956.
Rag brought kindness, love and compassion into the lives of everyone who knew him. He loved his family and loved spending time with them. He could often be seen sitting on the front porch or in the yard talking with neighbors. Through his kindness, love and compassion he has changed the lives of other’s and will be remembered for this.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Evadean Mays; brothers John and Roy Mays; granddaughter Reanna Mays; Colson Mays; and nephews Tanner and Samuel Mays.
He is survived by his wife Edythe Mays; his children Kellie Mays, Michael and Chris Mays, Josh (Susan) Thompson, Janda (Jenny) Mays, and Jessica Roberson; grandchildren Bailey Shelton, Gabrielle Shelton, Kailynn (Conner) Brady, Keegan Shelton, Addyson Parrish, Connor and Chloe Thompson and Braylee Mays; great grandchildren Margot and Callhan Brady; siblings Brenda (Bill) Caton and Darrell Mays as well as nieces and nephews.
A private grave side memorial will be held at Townsend’s cemetery where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents and other family members.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Anthony’s Hospice.
