Lydra “Dee” Ann McCormick, born July 5, 1968, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Thomas J. McCormick Jr. and Barbara A. Evans, passed away peacefully on Friday August 21, 2026; surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Dee was a true firecracker, known for her big personality, contagious laughter, and enormous heart. She had a natural gift of caring for others, a love that extended beyond family and friends, and a deep compassion for animals, never turning away a neighborhood animal in need.

She also found great purpose in her work as a CNA. Caring for the elderly was her calling, and she treated each resident with dignity, compassion, and love. Many became like family to her, and she carried those bonds with her throughout her life.

Dee loved music, laughter, and most of all, her family. In her later years, she grew deeply connected to her faith, finding comfort and peace in reading the Bible as she faced life’s challenges.

Though her life included many hardships, those who knew her best saw her strength, warmth, and heart. In her final years, she found peace, happiness, and companionship with her longtime partner, Fred Weatherholt, and was surrounded by love, family, faith, and the things that mattered most to her.

She is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Joey) Denham, Thea (Lance) Luigs, and Abby Gardner; son, Trey Epps; nine grandchildren, Josie Denham, Jesse Denham, Julian Denham, Jordyn Denham, Brocton Denham, Levin Luigs, Lexi Gardner, Zackary Mullin, and Gabrial Mullin; and two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Jaxsin.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Deaconess and Linda E. White Hospice House for their care, compassion, and kindness during Dee’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a humane society of your choice or pay it forward with a cup of coffee to a stranger, as her love for coffee did not waiver even in her final moments.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

To honor Dee’s memory, the family asks you share kindness and humor with others whenever you can, keeping a piece of her spirit alive in the world.
