Lana Nickell Gross, born November 23, 1949 passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025 at 3:47am while she was surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her father Roy Nickell, her mother Loretta Nickell and sister Betty (Nickell) Wright.
She is survived by her son Jack Russell Jr (Angie), daughter Erin (Jerry) Hill, daughter Amanda (Geordie McAneny) Gross, grandchildren Jaime, Coty, Jordan Russell, Matt (Ashley) Hill, Kristen (Mason) Lawson, Nate Gross & Chase McAneny, sisters Debbie (Ramon) Claxton, Joyce (Bill) Crocker and brother John (Gwyn) Nickell as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was a 1968 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She lived in Illinois for over 40yrs where she worked for the Honeywell Company which she retired from in 2014. She was married for 44yrs before moving back to Indiana in 2021 to be near her family and met her beloved partner, Ivan Finney.
Lana was loved by all. She had a heart of gold, willing to help those in need.
She enjoyed fishing in her sister Betty’s pond, cooking and baking.
She loved to laugh and make others laugh with her. She was happiest surround by family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on August 30th, 2025 from 1-3pm at the POCA Community Center located at 611 W 8th St, Mt Vernon IN 47620.
