Joyce Ann (Raetz) Jenkins, Joy to all who know and loved her, 74 of Evansville, IN passed away at her home on July 30, 2026, after a long illness. She was born in Cannelton, IN on May 7, 1952, to the late Herbert G. Raetz & Laura C. (Niece) Raetz.
Joy was employed by the Vanderburgh County Library in the AV Department for several years before finding her true calling as a title abstractor, opening her own successful business before retiring.
She loved nature, gardening, her many pets, both dogs and cats, and loved feeding the birds. Her favorite musical artist was Rod Stewart, even naming her most recent kitty Maggie May. Her love for baking cookies, brownies, pies and cinnamon rolls delighted all lucky enough to enjoy her talent.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband David Jenkins, who passed in 1997; her brother William (Bill) Raetz; and her sister Ina Glenn.
She is survived by her adopted daughter and son-in-law Stacie and Gary Marshall of Tennyson, IN; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her good friend and caregiver, Donna Letson; best friend and caregiver, Julia Alldredge; Julia’s husband and son Daniel Alldrege and Brandon Brown (who thought of Joy as his second mother); good friend Dan Jordan; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joy will be cremated as per her wishes with a memorial and life celebration at a later date.
