John Keith Ethridge, 70, of Evansville, passed away peacefully in his home on December 31, 2025.
John was born in Evansville on July 6, 1955, to James and Lois (Brown) Ethridge. He was a hardworking man and a life-long learner, who graduated from Central High School and attended Indiana University at Bloomington and the University of Southern Indiana. Growing up, John was an outstanding athlete who could “jump out of the gym,” and there was no shortage of competition between him and his brothers.
John spent nearly 30 years in the printing industry, most of them at Krieger-Ragsdale. A jack of all trades and master of many, he was a problem solver who could fix anything, ranging from the machines at the printing shops where he was employed to home repairs for his family to the baby furniture he built for his granddaughter. He also was a prolific reader whose library of favorite books included Robert M. Pirsig’s “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.” When he wasn’t lost in a book, he enjoyed listening to music and watching movies.
He is survived by his children, Julie Howard of Evansville, and John Ethridge, II (Madyson) of Franklinton, NC; brothers James (Lani), Mark (Jennifer), and Tim (Shari), all of Evansville; sisters Sandra Hoy of Evansville, and Carol Gette (Chris) of Westport, CT; grandchildren, Deven Garrett (Camysha), Dhezmond Garrett, Dawson Garrett, Keegan Byrne, and Audrey Ethridge; great grandchildren, Xyliah Garrett, Omni Garrett, and Cleo Garrett; dear friend and brother-in-law Dennis Wilson (Judy) of Evansville; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife Connie Ethridge; father James; mother Lois; and sister Linda Curry.
Simple Cremation Evansville was entrusted with his care.
