Jeannette Elaine Knowles, affectionately known to all as “Net,” passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Newburgh, Indiana. Born on August 29, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, Net’s life was a tapestry of love, service, and joy that touched everyone she met.
Net was a beacon of warmth and generosity, and her tenderhearted nature made her a beloved figure in her community. For many years, she dedicated herself to working in Environmental Services at Bronze Nursing Home, where her commitment to care and compassion was evident in all she did. Her work was not just a job but a reflection of her desire to create a better environment for those around
Family was the cornerstone of Net’s life. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Larry Knowles, with whom she shared over 30 years of marriage filled with love and mutual respect. Though she and Larry had no children of their own, their home was never empty. They opened their hearts and home to foster children Ashley, Cory, and Madison, who became an integral part of their family. Net’s siblings, Terry Marley (Chris), Brenda Powell (Mike), Pam Gardener, and Steven Hatfield (Denise), along with her “10,000 nieces and nephews,” as the family fondly joked, were a source of immense joy and laughter in her life.
Net’s interests were as colorful and varied as her personality. She had a passion for arts and crafts, finding joy in creating beauty with her hands. Shopping was more than a pastime for Net; it was an adventure that she embarked on with enthusiasm, always on the lookout for the perfect gift or trinket to brighten someone’s day. The Great Smoky Mountains held a special place in her heart. She cherished the time spent in cabins there, basking in the tranquility of nature, and exploring the charming shops and breathtaking scenery.
Aunt Net, as she was known to many, had a knack for making everyone feel like family. Her home was a haven of hospitality, her kitchen table a place of gathering and shared stories. She lived her life with her arms wide open, and those who knew her found comfort and kinship in her presence. Net’s love for games extended to the digital world, where she spent many happy hours playing games on the computer, a hobby that brought her immense pleasure and relaxation.
As we bid farewell to Net, we celebrate a life lived with an open heart and a spirit of giving. Her legacy is one of unconditional love and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Jeannette Elaine Knowles will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on as a guiding light and a reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived.
A special thanks to Crystal Stephens for the years of special care she provided to Larry and Jeanette.
