On Friday, February 17th, Janet G. Marker, beloved wife, and mother, passed away peacefully. She was 71 years young. Janet was surrounded by her family and dear friends after a brief battle with lung cancer. Born to Kurt and Grace Sample In Des Moines, Iowa, Janet began her career in the insurance industry where she met Steve Marker, who became her husband. They were married for 49 years. Janet later entered into the law profession working as a paralegal and church administrator during the span of her career.
Janet devoted her life to being a wife and mother while also pursuing her love of writing. She published countless magazine articles and poems in periodicals and also composed her own work of fiction, a novel, Portraits. With numerous books still in her head to create, Janet’s talents were boundless and could never be brought to fruition in one lifetime. Janet’s creative talents also included painting, songwriting, poetry, singing, and decorating.
We are overwhelmed by how Janet touched so many lives in the quietest of ways. We will miss her love of Christmas and her genuine kindness toward others. She found unconditional acceptance in her church and considered her ministers and congregation a true family. She was a mother who provided true unconditional love and a wife of steadfast devotion. She was a very special person and she will be profoundly missed.
Proceeded in death by parents Kurt and Grace Sample, and sister Susan Bohn. Survived by husband Steve Marker, sons Matt and Cole Marker, son-in-law Brian Ferguson, granddog Olive, brother Dan Sample, sister Nancy Virden and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 11th at 11 AM at Fresh Air Community of Faith, 200 South Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47714.
