James E. Harvey, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the age of 75.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Throughout his professional career, he worked in Hospitality Sales, where his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence earned him several awards and recognitions.
James will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his accomplishments, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Edward Clayton Harvey, and Edward’s spouse, Elizabeth Harvey; his two beloved grandchildren, Isabelle R. Harvey and Charlotte R. Harvey; and his sister, Barbara Safford.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion; his father, Edward Brim Harvey; and his sister, Susan Harvey.
James leaves behind cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His life, service, accomplishments, and love for his family will not be forgotten.
May he rest peacefully.

So sorry to hear. Jim and I were best friends in high school. Spent many a Saturday night there in order to ride down to Franklin Field with Ed to go to the Eagles game. Played a lot of poll in the basement. Loved his whole family.

I’m so sorry Clayton. I loved having known my second cousin. I remember first meeting him at about 22 years old when I was an intern in Washington DC. He worked for Hyatt then.
We went to dinner and then I remember sitting at the stops the top of the steps with him in Georgetown next to the house where the movie “The Exorcist” took place and where a famous scene was filmed.
I loved his sense of humor. He got that from I think both of his parents but I only knew his dad. I know you will miss him and thank you for being such a good son to him.

I am so very sorry to hear this. Jim and I have been friends since 1979 when we worked at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. While we only stayed in touch every now and then, it was always like there was no time between our last chat. I will miss his humor and friendship.

I met Jim when we both worked the Bingo on Monday nights at St. Benedict’s Cathedral. This was in the 80’s.
The man had a great sense of humor and he was full of knowledge!
We both had our boys in school there and we often would sit at events together. Loved his stories and takes about his adventures in the hospitality world.
