Gary T Siler passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was the beloved husband of Cheryl Ashley Siler
(nee Ashley) for 47 years and devoted father to Jarrett (Tricia), Brett (Jenny), and Scott Siler, as well as, loving grandfather of Otis Siler.
He is also survived by his sister Penny Wardell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death his parents, Ruth Siler (Apking) and James Siler and siblings Pat Hayes, Charlotte Sears, Victoria Smith,
Harold Siler, Ronald (Sonny) Siler, Albert Apking and Marion Danoto.
Gary was born in Marion County, Indiana to James Oliver and Ruth Marion Siler March 23, 1943. At 8 months old Gary’s father and two brothers were killed in a tragic train accident. He and his three sisters were sent to live at Mooseheart Orphanage in Aurora, Illinois where they thrived. Gary was a kind, gentle person who never judged other people for any reason. He thoroughly loved his family and enjoyed being with them when they were together. In his younger years Gary was always up for games around the kitchen table. He had a wicked sense of humor and an unending inventory of stories to tell. Gary was forever a student of history, science, weather events and trivia. His knowledge of American and WWII history could rival any textbook.
Despite early hardships, Gary was was an eternal optimist who loved making people laugh. He will be forever remembered and profoundly missed by his family and friends.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
