Gary J. Schwulst, 85, currently residing in Evansville, Indiana while surrounded by his wife, Jill Cantor Schwulst, and family, peacefully passed away on May 7, 2026, after a long battle with dementia.
He was born August 31, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gilbert Schwulst and Georgia Fischer.
As a “Well Travelled Man” Gary found his love of the open road. He is a US Army veteran and drove a military ambulance. After leaving the Army, he became a professional truck driver, criss-crossing the United States, enjoying the beautiful country and people. After driving a truck for decades, he continued his career driving school buses, limousines, tour buses and even a memorable stint as a University of Arizona shuttle bus driver. Gary will be remembered for his warm smile and sense of humor that made being around him a joy.
Gary was well loved and will be forever missed by his surviving wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to The Dementia Society of America (DSA).
