Dorothy Guertin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 13, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Born on February 3, 1946, in Parkersburg, Illinois, Dorothy built a life filled with family, familiar comforts, and the simple joys that meant the most to her. Her family was an important part of her life, and some of her happiest moments were spent watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and grow. She treasured the time she spent with them, creating memories that her family will carry in their hearts for years to come.
Dorothy enjoyed going to bingo, watching westerns on television, and spending time with her beloved dogs. Those who knew Dorothy will always remember one of her favorite sayings, “and all that.” It was a little piece of her personality that made Dorothy who she was and will surely bring smiles to the faces of those who knew and loved her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mert; her son, Scottie; her parents, Betty Hockenberry and Ross Hain Sr.
She is survived by her five children: Patricia (Curtis), Diana, Timothy, Linda, Brenda (Gregg), and 4 brothers, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory and hold her close in their hearts.
Though Dorothy will be deeply missed, the memories she leaves behind will live on through the generations of family she loved so dearly. Her familiar sayings, the time spent together, and the everyday moments that made life special will forever be a part of her family’s story.
Dorothy’s love and memory will remain with all those who were blessed to know her. And all that, she will never be forgotten.
