(Doreen Sumbles), who loved to be called “Mommy” by her kids, lost her battle with Lung
Cancer at Heart-to-Heart Hospice Home of Evansville Friday, Sept 12th, 2025.
Doreen was born in Freshwater, Newfoundland Canada on June 29th, 1952, to Steve and Ellen (Leonard) Martin.
Doreen was the Proud owner of C&D Corral for many years and then spent several years
taking care of her Grandchildren. And then on to her final Role at Wal-Mart in Boonville,
Indiana. Doreen was known for her sense of humor.
She is survived by her Children Devona (Rick) Gogel, Carla (J.T) Datz & Vaughn Sumbles, Jr.
Grandchildren Samantha (Nick)Theising, Jolene (Brandon) Casteel, Dylan (Summer) Gogel,
Devon (Courtney) Gogel, Trisha Gogel, Joshua (Nikki) Gogel, Nicholas (Brianna) Gogel,
Tiffany (Jed) Lashley, Jessica (Jake) Watson Shelby (Danial) Roos, Nikki Glenn, William B
Glenn, Annastacia Sumbles, Kyle Sumbles, Bconnell (Alley) Sumbles & Arissnia Sumbles.
As well as her many great grandchildren Whom she adored.
Doreen is survived by her sisters Camella (Connie) Rivers of Ravena, New York and
Geraldine (Geri) Yeager of Richland, Indiana. And all her nieces and nephews that she loved
very much.
Doreen grew up in Freshwater, Newfoundland Canada and Proceeded in death by her
parents Steve & Ellen (Leornard) Martin of Freshwater, Newfoundland, Canada, Brothers
Andy Martin of Freshwater, Newfoundland, Thomas Martin of Albany, New York, and sisters
MaryAnne Vogel of Selkirk, New York & Helen Premdas of Catskill, New York. Her youngest
son Dallas SumBles of Spencer County, Indiana and Grandson Brandon Gogel of
Wadesville, Indiana.
She had a love of Newfie Music, dancing and fishing, she loved reading books and her little
Chica (her Puppy). Mommy loved to collect Dolls & Angels and going to Thrift stores with
her beloved sister Geri.
Funeral Services will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on 10/2/2025 at 10:30am
central time.
