Denny passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He leaves behind his wife, Teresa (Emmett) Bloodworth, son Benjamin (Michelle) Bloodworth, daughters Sara (Travis) Willett, and Rebecca Bloodworth, as well as his beloved grandchildren Shelton, Lukas and Nathaniel Bloodworth, and Avonlea, Thane and Ronan Willett. Also surviving him are his siblings Jo Ann Lilleston, Donna Bethel, Bill (Marti) Bloodworth and Debbie (Phil Moss) Guido and their many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Abigail Bloodworth, parents Maxwell and Wanda (Cox) Bloodworth and brother James Bloodworth.
Born on Sunday, June 3, 1956, Denny grew up in Mount Vernon, Indiana. After spending his freshman year at Purdue University, he transferred to the University of Evansville and earned his Bachelor of Music Education in 1978. He and Teresa were married soon after, on June 24. They moved back to Mount Vernon in 1984 to be close to family and raise their children.
Denny took a summer job in 1978 at Morton Avenue Warehouse that would eventually propel him into managing the Returnable Packaging Program for Whirlpool Corporation’s Refrigeration Division which would win many awards over the years due to his innovative ideas. He always thought of himself as a problem solver in his field and decided to earn his Master of Science in Industrial Management in order to help him do an even better job. It gave him great joy to manage that program, and he always said that it was a team effort across the entire division that produced such great results for Whirlpool, the line workers, and the environment.
While working for Whirlpool and earning his MSIM at USI, he also used his music degree as the Minister of Music at Evansville Baptist Temple and Heritage Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. He loved to sing and share his love of music with others. His faith and devotion were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Denny devoted his entire life to serving his Lord and providing for his family. He treasured his family and friends, and the time spent with them, more than anything else on earth. Although he didn’t get to spend as much time as he would have liked on other things, he loved to travel, fish, camp, and play with his children and grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of his life to which all are invited. It will be held on Saturday, January 10, 11:00 a.m. at Community Central Church, 5015 North First Avenue, Evansville, Indiana. Denny’s ashes will be interred on a later date at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Posey County. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Community Central Church or your favorite charity.
