Catherine Sue Gates, born January 9, 1940, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. She is survived by her children, Alice Like (married to Todd) and Larry Gates, and her cherished grandchildren: Lauren Gates Halterman (married to Nick, with daughters Piper and Emery), Amber Weger (married to Brad with son Reid and Daughter Stella), Garrett Like (married to Destiney), Heath Like, and Ethan Like.
Catherine will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She was also an excellent cook, known for filling every gathering with warmth, comfort, and the unforgettable meals she lovingly prepared. Catherine never let anyone leave her home hungry — sharing her food was one of the many ways she expressed her generosity and care.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace.

miss Catherine was my friend for years when I worked at Evansville Protestant home we became very good friends and always stayed in touch went out to eat once a month she will truly be missed by me he was with me through a difficult time when I lost my son she checked on me everyday I loved her with all my heart rest in peace God’s got you now 🩵💎🕊️💔💔🌹

Sue was a very special lady in my life….We met at Ellis Park almost twenty years ago…and working with her was so much fun….we stayed friends after we both left Ellis Park….Sue will be missed by the Ellis Park girls!!!! RIP SUE😇❤️
