Heaven gained a beautiful and kind soul on July 9, 2026 with the passing of Carolyn Miller.
Carolyn was born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee. Right after high school, she met the love of her life, Tom, and they married soon after. For 65 years, they shared a rich and loving journey together, living in several places before settling in the Newburgh / Evansville, Indiana area, where they made their home for 53 years.
Carolyn worked in the insurance industry, served as the beloved bookstore manager at Castle High School, and owned and operated her own antique store in downtown Newburgh for several years. Yet none of these roles defined her. Her true life’s work was her deep devotion to family. A loving and steadfast wife, the best mom and grandmother, a cherished sister, and a true friend, Carolyn will be remembered for her bright smile and her infectious laugh that could light up any room. She touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In her later years, she received care at Newburgh Healthcare. Her family is deeply grateful for the compassion and kindness shown to her there, with special appreciation for their dear friend Ebony.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tom Miller of Evansville, Indiana; her sons, Deke Miller (and wife Ginny) of Commerce, Michigan, and Kirk Miller (and wife Lynn) of Trinity, Florida; grandchildren Austin Miller (and wife Mackenzie) of Evansville, Indiana, Wil Miller (and wife Sierra) of Land O’Lakes, Florida, and Sam Miller of Clearwater, Florida; and great-grandchildren Tatum, Hayes, and Kalani.
The family will gather privately in the coming days to celebrate Carolyn’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn would have asked that you honor her memory by offering a warm smile or a gentle act of kindness to someone in need.
