Brian James Morrissey passed away on October 22, 2025 at Linda White Hospice in Evansville, Indiana. Brian was born June 9, 1938 in West London, England, to parents David (Dai) Morrissey and Stella Morrissey. He was among the many children who were evacuated from the London area at the onset of the air attacks of the Battle of Britain, and it was in South Wales that he was raised by James and Sarah Ann Morrissey, his grandparents.
It was there that he met future wife, Gloria Jukes, and began a long career in engineering, first as an apprentice mechanical engineer, and then in the Royal Army as a commissioned officer and was stationed in Borneo and Singapore for a time. Back home as a civilian, Brian worked as a mechanical engineer throughout the South Welsh valleys.
During this time, he and Gloria were married, in 1962. The two of them lived and worked in Zambia in subtropical central Africa for several years in the 60s. He continued further as a maintenance engineer back in the United Kingdom. Later his career then brought he and Gloria to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1972, where he spent 16 years with James River Corporation.
Brian worked on projects and the patents associated with them then and would continue to for the rest of his life. In Louisiana, the couple also welcomed their daughter, Tiffany.
The family moved to Newburgh, Indiana, where Brian worked with Alcoa for 17 years, until he was able to then enjoy a long and happy retirement.
Brian’s mechanical inventions and improvements saw six patents in the US. Brian and Gloria were able to enjoy gardening, cooking and travel. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather and cat owner.
Brian was preceded in death by wife Gloria Morrissey (Jukes) and her parents Hector and Lillian May Jukes. He will be much missed by his friends and family in the UK who include siblings Ann Phillips, David Morrissey, Bronwen Hosie, Bernard Morrissey, Jonathan Morrissey (deceased) as well as in-laws, Don (Gill) Jukes and Barrie Evans (deceased).
He is survived by his loving family; daughter Tiffany (Morrissey) Gibbs (Damon Dawson), grandson Lincoln James Gibbs and former son-in-law Dylan Gibbs.
In lieu of flowers, please consider performing a kind act and passing it on.

Tiffany I never got to meet you, but I met your father when I would visit my mother Jenny. He was the most distinguished, gentle, and genuinely kind man I had ever met. When I met him I felt like wow, what an amazing light this man has! I was so thankful that my mother had him as a friend. I hope that I can still meet you. He also had a great sense of humor. I feel so honored to have met him. He blessed me and he didn’t even know it. I’m truly sorry about your loss. With all my heart. I loved him immediately. His smile was contagious. And I grieve along with my mother and your family and friends. He was an instant friend. May he be eternally greeted into the gates of heaven and reunited with his wife. God bless.

Bernard Morrissey says
To Tiffany and Family,
As a younger brother, by nine years of Brian, I have always looked up to him and been proud to be one of the siblings. Based in Wales, part of the UK have not always been in the same age group, or location, but have notable memories of certain events. I attended Brian & Gloria’s wedding in 1962. Brian & Gloria, on a visit here attended my wedding in Southampton in 1978. In 1966 both Brian and I were at the Aberfan Disaster helping in the rescue work. Brian was an Officer in the Territorial British Army at the time. I have been privileged during the past few years to be able to have weekly telephone conversations with Brian, which I will value forever. Thank you Tiffany for the Obituary and photo. As part of the family we will keep in touch and condolences to all of you. Please tell Linda that your Dad thought the world of her.
All Our Love
