Barry J. Chester
It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Chester announce his passing on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home in Wickliffe, Indiana. Barry was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania in September 25, 1944 to Charles and Elfleda Chester. He graduated from Monessen High School, and Gateway Technical Institute with a degree in heating and air conditioning. After graduation, he worked as a supervisor at Ford Aerospace in Connersville, Indiana and later Ford Motor Company in the Detroit Metro area for many years. Later he worked at Masterbrand Cabinets in Ferdinand.
Barry served in both the Pennsylvania and Indiana National Guards. Barry met and married Kit Miracle in Richmond, Indiana. They recently celebrated their forty-seventh anniversary. Barry and Kit moved to Southern Indiana in 1986 where they bought a small farm. They have two sons, Adam (Krysta) and Benjamin (Lena) and two grandchildren. Barry is also survived by his sister Alice (Richard) and brother Dan (Amy), and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Jr. and sister Beverly.
When not at work, Barry could often be found cutting firewood on the farm or riding Jonny, his old Allis Chalmers around the farm. He was mostly known among friends and neighbors for his cooking. He excelled in artisan breads, biscotti, and especially many Italian dishes. Barry also had a phenomenal memory for old song lyrics and movie dialogue.
There will be no viewing or service but a future memorial may be planned. Arrangements are being handled by Simple Cremation of Evansville. Memorial donations may be made to Jasper Community Arts, Crawford County Library, or the American Heart Association.
