Melvin Thomas “Tom” Long, age 66, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana.
Born on June 13, 1960, in Carlisle, Indiana, he is the son of Melvin and Beverly Long. Tom was a beautifully simple man who loved his family above all else. Whether he was out cutting wood with his dad, working as a skilled “car doctor,” collecting Dale Earnhardt memorabilia, watching sports and sci-fi movies, or indulging in his favorite sweets, Tom found joy in the straightforward pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tom is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Devyn Long, and her husband, Brian Danner; his granddaughter, Marlee Long; his parents, Melvin and Beverly Long; his brother, Rodney Long, and his wife; his nephew, William; and his brother, Greg Long.
In accordance with his wishes, simple cremation arrangements are being handled in Evansville. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Tom’s memory. The family deeply appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
