Cabell Bernard Williams, 82, went to be with the angels on April 19, 2026. Born October 1, 1943, in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, he spent most of his life in Evansville, Indiana.
An Air Force veteran, Cabell built a respected career in transportation management, serving as Vice President of the Port of Evansville before later retiring from the trucking industry. He was a man who valued dedication, hard work, and quiet leadership and was respected among his peers.
Cabell is survived by his children, Cabell B. Williams II (Mindi) and Autumn L.W. Winternheimer (Dan); his beloved grandsons, Wyatt Daniel, Lane Cabell, and Cole Arthur; wife, Lana Williams; his sister, Miriam Gail Nicolai (Robert); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis S. Austin (Bill), and his father, Cabell L. Williams (Antonette).
A simple man at heart, Cabell found joy in nature, photography, and animals. His greatest joy in life was being Dad/Papaw Bell/P.P. No matter what his children or grandsons pursued he was always their biggest fan. In his final months, he formed a special bond with his grand dog, Lola, who didn’t leave his side. He was deeply devoted to his small circle of family, caring for them with quiet strength, steady loyalty, and unwavering love. He shared a very special bond with his children and grandsons who he was very proud of.
Cabell loved to read and will be remembered for his storytelling, often sharing vivid memories from his life, and for his humble wisdom. He often said he didn’t know a lot, but knew “a little about a lot of things.” Those who knew him will remember a man of faith who led by example—strong, steady, and attentive to those he loved. He will be greatly missed by his family.
No visitation or funeral services are planned. In honor of Cabell, his family encourages others to spend time in nature and to care for those they hold dear.

I grew up calling him Mr. Cabell. He wasn’t just a neighbor but he was family. He took me to my first retriever trial and signed me for the DU puddler magazine. I used to come down and talk to him for hours about everything under the sun. Mr. Cabell was a good and honest man that impacted my life in ways I can’t describe . I will always cherish the memories of talking to him in the backyard or on the front porch. I know he will have stories when I see him again! Autumn and Jr if you need anything I am a phone call away.
Rest easy my friend.. Until we meet again!
