Carolyn Lowe (Soden), age 82, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana. Born on July 2, 1943, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Carolyn was the daughter of William Soden and June Van Matre. She was also raised by Gene Dyehouse.
Carolyn was the mother of five children: Brad Rayborn of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; Stacey Claybourne (Kenny) and Shelley Short (Eric), both of Evansville, Indiana; Terri Brown of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and Keri Eversole (Damon) of Clarksville, Tennessee. She was the grandmother of ten grandchildren: Caleb and Brandon Rayborn, Derick Lowe, Marissa Rayborn, Joshua and Jacob Brown, Samantha Johnson, Joshua Eversole, Vee Cockerham, and Emily De Leo. She is also survived by sixteen great‑grandchildren, whose presence added a gentle steadiness to her later years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Bonita Kay Prosise, Mike Dyehouse, Colin Soden, Joe Soden, Gary Soden, and Judy Esparza; and by two grandchildren, Haylie Weiss and Zachary Rayborn.
Family was an important part of Carolyn’s life, and she valued the time she spent with those close to her. In the fall months, she especially enjoyed attending Mt. Carmel Aces football games with her sister—a pastime she looked forward to each year.
In accordance with Carolyn’s wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Her family and friends will remember her in their own ways and carry forward the moments they shared.
May her memory bring a sense of peace to all who knew her.
