Bonnie Sue Kirk of Evansville, Indiana, was born on April 19, 1955, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gipson. She passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at Transcendent Healthcare North in Boonville, Indiana.
Bonnie was a 1977 graduate of Benjamin Bosse High School. She embraced the spirit of love, music, and optimism in her youth. In 1987, she discovered true, unconditional love when her son, Jesse Schwab, was laid in her arms. Her desire to provide him with a brighter future inspired her to pursue nursing, earning her LPN from Ivy Tech in 1991. In 1993, Bonnie married Robert G. Kirk.
Bonnie went on to build a meaningful career in clinical research, working for organizations such as GFI Research, Wellborn Clinic Research, and Deaconess Research. As a Research Study Coordinator, she played an important role in overseeing clinical trials, ensuring new treatments were safely and effectively studied, and that patients received excellent care while contributing to medical advancements benefiting countless people.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Jesse Schwab; her sister, Faye Paddock; her brother, Jerry (Jimmy) Gipson; nieces, Cindy (Chris) Johnson and Jayna (Mike) McClarny; several great-nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 30 years, Christina Burkes.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gipson; her husband, Robert (Bob) Kirk; her beloved grandson, Damon Baird Lee Schwab; and her honorary son, SPC Jared S. Arnn.
In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes, her family will honor her life with a private scattering of her ashes in Colorado at a later date. She will be deeply missed, and her warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
