George Noble Kinder, 68, of Rockport, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, IN after an extended illness.
George was born on June 17, 1957, in Wurzburg, Germany to Harry and Patricia Kinder. Soon after the family moved to the United States.
George and Sherry began dating while they both attended Calhoun High School. After graduating high school, George enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1975. George and Sherry married on December 23, 1975, while George was home from basic training and then the newlyweds quickly headed to Minot, North Dakota. George served as military police until he was honorably discharged in 1979. After the Air Force, George completed his career as a maintenance planner at various power plants across the Midwest, most notably AEP.
In his free time, George was full of life and always up for any adventure. George was a family man who always put Sherry, Chris and Matt first. Living an active, outdoor lifestyle, George had a love for nature. George served as a scout leader for many years and when he wasn’t busy there, he could be found coaching either Chris or Matt.
There wasn’t a project too large or too small for George to tackle. All who knew him were inspired by his do-it-yourself-skills!
George was a lover of Christ, and we can’t wait to hear about all his heavenly shenanigans. During George’s later years, when he didn’t feel well and was asked what he needed, his answer was always the same, “A new body.” What a glorious day to think about the day George got his new body and probably ran right through those gates of heaven. Well done, George, you were a good and faithful servant.
George will be incredibly missed by those he leaves behind. George is survived by the love of his life, Sherry L. (Cummings) Kinder of Rockport, IN; children, Chris (Jade) Kinder of Marysville, OH and Matt Kinder (Ashley Johnson) of Tampa, FL; Sisters-In Laws, Sandy (Andy) Shepherd and Susan (Jim) Wright; and Father-In Law, Darrell Cummings.
George was the proud grandfather of six: Grace (22), Wes (21), Luke (18), Madison (15), Kait (15), and Ayden (14).
George’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest at the family cemetery. The family will honor George’s life at a small graveside service at 1 pm EST on October 25, 2025, at Sissonville Memorial Gardens, Sissonville, WV.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to Turning Point USA in memory of George Kinder.

My heart breaks so much for the family. George it was honor to be one of the people to take care of you. I will miss your jokes and your laughter and our talks. I will also miss feeding you, making sure you were warm, holding your hand while eating. You always brightened my day from the time I got there till the time I left. I love and miss ya my Georgie.
Matthew Kinder says
My Dad was the best man to have lived. The best Father someone could have asked for. The best friend. The best role model. Simply, the best. Gone way too soon. I miss every single thing, every single day and the only thing that brings me solace is the fact that he’s hopefully happy to no longer be in pain. I’ll love you always, Dad.
