
David Lefette Sims, age 53, of Evansville, IN, passed away on July 3, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side.
David was born in Evansville, IN, on February 15, 1972, to Donald Sims and Alma Gentry. David was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sims.
He is survived by wife of 19 years, Amy Cantrell Sims, and daughter, Tabitha Sims, both of Evansville, IN and son, David (Amanda) Lamb, of Bon Aqua, TN. Also surviving are his Mother Alma (Ron) Gentry Harpe, Stepmother Cheryl (Donald) Sims of Cloverdale, IN, sisters, Sena Teska of Evansville, IN, and Ashley (Cory) Sims Barnfield, of Louisville, KY, and brothers, Douglas Sims of Evansville, IN, and Bob Holland, of Taylor, AZ. Also surviving are many cherished nieces and nephews.
David was a self-taught chef who worked in kitchens most recently at Bud’s Bar & Grill in Evansville, IN, and previously at Evansville Country Club and Cork & Cleaver, both in Evansville, IN. He loved spending time with his “girls” (wife & daughter), cracking jokes about anything and everything, and playing disc golf and fishing with his buddies.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Bud’s Bar & Grill at 2124 W Franklin St, Evansville, IN from 2PM to 5PM.
