Dennis Ray Briody passed away at the age of 78 on July 16. He was pre-deceased by his parents Martha and Verl Briody and sister Vicki Briody (Reising). He is survived by brothers John and Kenny of Evansville, IN and Steve of Atlanta, GA; nieces Debbie Baize-Garcia (Genaro), Denise Craig, Stacey Knight (John), and Erin Grampp (Andy).
Ray graduated from Fulton Grade School (1961) and Central HS (1965) where he enjoyed running track and cross country, playing basketball, and competing in swim meets with the Helfrich Park Swim Team.
After high school Ray served in the US Army in Seoul, South Korea, and when he returned to the US, he worked for Beneficial Finance, Dubois Chemical Company, and Allstate Insurance. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, watching sports on tv, playing slow-pitch softball, and keeping up with the news by reading his Time magazine.
Ray was cremated and, at his request, no funeral or service will be held.

Ray and I had a special connection that lasted from freshman year in high school throughout his life, despite the fact that we only saw each other once every year or two. He was a true friend, and I will miss him.
Thanks to his niece who cared for him in the end, and especially to his brother Steve for helping me keep in touch with him.
